Anxiety, Fears, and Phobias

Everyone, from the youngest child to the oldest adult, experiences anxieties and fears at one time or another. Feeling anxious in a particularly uncomfortable situation never feels very good. However, with kids, such feelings are not only normal, they're also necessary. Experiencing and dealing with anxieties can prepare young people to handle the unsettling experiences and challenging situations of life.Anxieties and Fears Are Normal

Anxiety is defined as "apprehension without apparent cause." It usually occurs when there's no immediate threat to a person's safety or well being, but the threat feels real.

Anxiety makes someone want to escape the situation — fast. The heart beats quickly, the body might begin to perspire, and "butterflies" in the stomach soon follow. However, a little bit of anxiety can actually help people stay alert and focused.

Having fears or anxieties about certain things can also be helpful because it makes kids behave in a safe way. For example, a kid with a fear of fire would avoid playing with matches.

The nature of anxieties and fears change as kids grow and develop:
Babies experience stranger anxiety, clinging to parents when confronted by people they don't recognize.
Toddlers around 10 to 18 months old experience separation anxiety, becoming emotionally distressed when one or both parents leave.
Kids ages 4 through 6 have anxiety about things that aren't based in reality, such as fears of monsters and ghosts.
Kids ages 7 through 12 often have fears that reflect real circumstances that may happen to them, such as bodily injury and natural disaster.

As kids grow, one fear may disappear or replace another. For example, a child who couldn't sleep with the light off at age 5 may enjoy a ghost story at a slumber party years later. And some fears may extend only to one particular kind of stimulus. In other words, a child may want to pet a lion at the zoo but wouldn't dream of going near the neighbor's dog.
Signs of Anxiety

Typical childhood fears change with age. They include fear of strangers, heights, darkness, animals, blood, insects, and being left alone. Kids often learn to fear a specific object or situation after having an unpleasant experience, such as a dog bite or an accident.

Separation anxiety is common when young children are starting school, whereas adolescents may experience anxiety related to social acceptance and academic achievement.

If anxious feelings persist, they can take a toll on a child's sense of well being. The anxiety associated with social avoidance can have long-term effects. For example, a child with fear of being rejected can fail to learn important social skills, causing social isolation.

Many adults are tormented by fears that stem from childhood experiences. An adult's fear of public speaking may be the result of embarrassment in front of peers many years before. It's important for parents to recognize and identify the signs and symptoms of kids' anxieties so that fears don't get in the way of everyday life.

Some signs that a child may be anxious about something may include:
becoming clingy, impulsive, or distracted
nervous movements, such as temporary twitches
problems getting to sleep and/or staying asleep longer than usual
sweaty hands
accelerated heart rate and breathing
nausea
headaches
stomachaches

Apart from these signs, parents can usually tell when their child is feeling excessively uneasy about something. Lending a sympathetic ear is always helpful, and sometimes just talking about the fear can help a child move beyond it.
What's a Phobia?

When anxieties and fears persist, problems can arise. As much as a parent hopes the child will grow out of it, sometimes the opposite occurs, and the cause of the anxiety looms larger and becomes more prevalent. The anxiety becomes a phobia, or a fear that's extreme, severe, and persistent.

A phobia can be very difficult to tolerate, both for kids and those around them, especially if the anxiety-producing stimulus (whatever is causing the anxiety) is hard to avoid (e.g., thunderstorms).

"Real" phobias are one of the top reasons children are referred to mental health professionals. But the good news is that unless the phobia hinders the everyday ability to function, the child sometimes won't need treatment by a professional because, in time, the phobia will be resolved.
Focusing on Anxieties, Fears, or Phobias

Try to answer the following questions honestly:

Is your child's fear and behavior related to it typical for your child's age? If the answer to this question is yes, it's a good bet that your child's fears will resolve before they become a serious cause for concern. This isn't to say that the anxiety should be discounted or ignored; rather, it should be considered as a factor in your child's normal development.

Many kids experience age-appropriate fears, such as being afraid of the dark. Most, with some reassurance and perhaps a night-light, will overcome or outgrow it. However, if they continue to have trouble or there's anxiety about other things, the intervention may have to be more intensive.

What are the symptoms of the fear, and how do they affect your child's personal, social, and academic functioning? If symptoms can be identified and considered in light of your child's everyday activities, adjustments can be made to alleviate some of the stress factors.

Does the fear seem unreasonable in relation to the reality of the situation; and could it be a sign of a more serious problem? If your child's fear seems out of proportion to the cause of the stress, this may signal the need to seek outside help, such as a counselor, psychiatrist, or psychologist.

Parents should look for patterns. If an isolated incident is resolved, don't make it more significant than it is. But if a pattern emerges that's persistent or pervasive, you should take action. If you don't, the phobia is likely to continue to affect your child.

Contact your doctor and/or a mental health professional who has expertise in working with kids and adolescents.
Helping Your Child

Parents can help kids develop the skills and confidence to overcome fears so that they don't evolve into phobic reactions.

To help your child deal with fears and anxieties:
Recognize that the fear is real. As trivial as a fear may seem, it feels real to your child and it's causing him or her to feel anxious and afraid. Being able to talk about fears helps — words often take some of the power out of the negative feeling. If you talk about it, it can become less powerful.
Never belittle the fear as a way of forcing your child to overcome it. Saying, "Don't be ridiculous! There are no monsters in your closet!" may get your child to go to bed, but it won't make the fear go away.
Don't cater to fears, though. If your child doesn't like dogs, don't cross the street deliberately to avoid one. This will just reinforce that dogs should be feared and avoided. Provide support and gentle care as you approach the feared object or situation with your child.
Teach kids how to rate fear. A child who can visualize the intensity of the fear on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the strongest, may be able to "see" the fear as less intense than first imagined. Younger kids can think about how "full of fear" they are, with being full "up to my knees" as not so scared, "up to my stomach" as more frightened, and "up to my head" as truly petrified.
Teach coping strategies. Try these easy-to-implement techniques. Using you as "home base," the child can venture out toward the feared object, and then return to you for safety before venturing out again. The child can also learn some positive self-statements, such as "I can do this" and "I will be OK" to say to himself or herself when feeling anxious. Relaxation techniques are helpful, including visualization (of floating on a cloud or lying on a beach, for example) and deep breathing (imagining that the lungs are balloons and letting them slowly deflate).

The key to resolving fears and anxieties is to overcome them. Using these suggestions, you can help your child better cope with life's situations.

SELF CONCEPT

.

What is self concept? How we think about or evaluate ourselves. It includes:
1.physical
2.moral
3.personal
4.family
5.social situation dimensions
Self-concept is influenced by our sense of identity. Two things have powerful effects on
our self-concept:
a) the opinions and judgements other people make of us
b) social comparisons - perceptions of the ways in which you are similar to and
different from other people. These will, in turn, influence a very important part of our self-concept: our self-esteem..
What is self-esteem? If people perceive themselves to be intelligent, competent and well-
adjusted then their self esteem is said to be high; if their self-perception is that of being
unintelligent, incompetent and poorly adjusted then their self esteem is said to be low.
Gergen (1965) study on self-esteem. Showed how it is affected by the reactions of
others. Asked subjects to talk about themselves as openly and honestly as possible.
Half subjects treated in a positive way, half in a negative way by a clinical psychologist.
Other subjects in a control condition treated neutrally. Found that self-esteem increased
as talk progressed if in positive condition, decreased in negative condition and stayed the
same in the control condition.
What is wrong with this study ethically?
Bergin (1962) showed that we do not believe people who widely disagree with our self-
evaluations (e.g. if you think you are a really hard worker but your parents suggest that
you are incredibly lazy then you’ll ignore them and think they are stupid!)
Morse and Gergen (1970) showed that in uncertain or anxiety arousing situations our self-
esteem may change rapidly. Subjects were waiting for a job interview in a waiting room.
They were sat with another candidate (a confederate of the experimenter) in one of two
conditions:
A) Mr Clean - dressed in smart suit, carrying a briefcase opened to reveal a slide rule
and books.
B) Mr Dirty - dressed in an old T-shirt and jeans, slouched over a cheap sex novel.

Self-esteem of subjects with Mr Dirty increased whilst those with Mr Clean decreased!
No mention made of how this affected subjects’ performance in interview. Level of self-
esteem affects performance at numerous tasks though (Coopersmith 1967) so could
expect Mr Dirty subjects to perform better than Mr Clean.
Even though self-esteem might fluctuate, there are times when we continue to believe
good things about ourselves even when evidence to the contrary exists. This is known as
the perseverance effect. Ross et al (1975) showed that people who believed they had
socially desirable characteristics continued in this belief even when the experimenters tried
to get them to believe the opposite. Does the same thing happen with bad things if we
have low self-esteem? Maybe not, perhaps with very low self-esteem all we believe
about ourselves might be bad.
Where does the self-concept come from? Cooley suggested that feedback from others is
crucial.
How accurate are we in our person perception? Are some people more accurate than
others? Evidence for this is mixed and inconclusive. Question of accuracy in person
perception has been researched, despite two major problems:
1. Different aspects of social environment cause different people to attend to different
things so it might be a waste of time to talk about accuracy in social perception.
2. To know that one person is more accurate than another means that we have to
develop objective criteria: who decides what is accurate?
All this research probably goes back to Charles Darwin, who said that facial expressions
are innate and had evolved from facial movements that once served specific functions for
that species (e.g. expression of disgust evolved from the expression used when
vomiting!).
This claim led to the hypothesis that people should be accurate in recognising emotional
expression in other people - since everybody should exhibit the same expressions for the
same emotions. Early studies didn’t find this (review by Ekman et al 1972) because too
many expressions were used. Ekman et al (1969) & Izard (1972) found strong and
consistent evidence that people perceive emotional expression accurately but only for a
very limited number of emotions and only if those emotions are unambiguously
displayed. Ekman restricts his studies to 6 emotions.

Ekman’s Six universal Emotions:
! happiness
! sorrow
! anger
! disgust
! fear
! surprise
Ekman & Friesen (1975) showed these pictures to people from different cultures (e.g. US,
Brazil, Japan, Argentina) and found high levels of agreement.
All well and good for perception of emotion, what about perception of personality traits?
Not so good. One of the most common ways that social psychologists have assessed this
is to compare personality test filled in by one person with one filled in on their behalf by
another person. Another method has been to compare ratings with those of a clinical
psychologist. Vernon (1933) tried out another method by asking 48 male students to fill
out personality and intelligence questionnaires. They were asked to rate themselves,
friends and strangers on these. No consistent results to speak of. Some people rated
themselves most accurately, others friends, others strangers.
Cronbach (1955) criticises this and other such studies saying that such an approach
throws greater light on how subjects perceive people to be rather than who they really
are. Who the hell knows who people “really are” anyway? Is all this research into
accuracy of personality perception pointless? Probably!
Perhaps we need to look at all of this in a slightly different way and look at how people
work out what is going on in a social situation by attributing causes.

Developing Your Child's Self Esteem

.

Healthy self-esteem is a child's armor against the challenges of the world. Kids who feel good about themselves seem to have an easier time handling conflicts and resisting negative pressures. They tend to smile more readily and enjoy life. These kids are realistic and generally optimistic.

In contrast, kids with low self-esteem can find challenges to be sources of major anxiety and frustration. Those who think poorly of themselves have a hard time finding solutions to problems. If given to self-critical thoughts such as "I'm no good" or "I can't do anything right," they may become passive, withdrawn, or depressed. Faced with a new challenge, their immediate response is "I can't."

Here's how you can play important role in promoting healthy self-esteem in your child.
What Is Self-Esteem?

Self-esteem is the collection of beliefs or feelings we have about ourselves, our "self-perceptions." How we define ourselves influences our motivations, attitudes, and behaviors and affects our emotional adjustment.

Patterns of self-esteem start very early in life. For example, a toddler who reaches a milestone experiences a sense of accomplishment that bolsters self-esteem. Learning to roll over after dozens of unsuccessful attempts teaches a baby a "can-do" attitude.

The concept of success following persistence starts early. As kids try, fail, try again, fail again, and then finally succeed, they develop ideas about their own capabilities. At the same time, they're creating a self-concept based on interactions with other people. This is why parental involvement is key to helping kids form accurate, healthy self-perceptions.

Self-esteem also can be defined as feelings of capability combined with feelings of being loved. A child who is happy with an achievement but does not feel loved may eventually experience low self-esteem. Likewise, a child who feels loved but is hesitant about his or her own abilities can also end up with low self-esteem. Healthy self-esteem comes when the right balance is reached.
Signs of Unhealthy and Healthy Self-Esteem

Self-esteem fluctuates as kids grow. It's frequently changed and fine-tuned, because it is affected by a child's experiences and new perceptions. So it helps to be aware of the signs of both healthy and unhealthy self-esteem.

Kids with low self-esteem may not want to try new things, and may frequently speak negatively about themselves: "I'm stupid," "I'll never learn how to do this," or "What's the point? Nobody cares about me anyway." They may exhibit a low tolerance for frustration, giving up easily or waiting for somebody else to take over. They tend to be overly critical of and easily disappointed in themselves. Kids with low self-esteem see temporary setbacks as permanent, intolerable conditions, and a sense of pessimism predominates.

Kids with healthy self-esteem tend to enjoy interacting with others. They're comfortable in social settings and enjoys group activities as well as independent pursuits. When challenges arise, they can work toward finding solutions and voice discontent without belittling themselves or others. For example, rather than saying, "I'm an idiot," a child with healthy self-esteem says, "I don't understand this." They know their strengths and weaknesses, and accept them. A sense of optimism prevails.
How Parents Can Help

How can a parent help to foster healthy self-esteem in a child? These tips can make a big difference:
Watch what you say. Kids are very sensitive to parents' words. Remember to praise your child not only for a job well done, but also for effort. But be truthful. For example, if your child doesn't make the soccer team, avoid saying something like, "Well, next time you'll work harder and make it." Instead, try "Well, you didn't make the team, but I'm really proud of the effort you put into it." Reward effort and completion instead of outcome.
Be a positive role model. If you're excessively harsh on yourself, pessimistic, or unrealistic about your abilities and limitations, your child may eventually mirror you. Nurture your own self-esteem, and your child will have a great role model.
Identify and redirect your child's inaccurate beliefs. It's important for parents to identify kids' irrational beliefs about themselves, whether they're about perfection, attractiveness, ability, or anything else. Helping kids set more accurate standards and be more realistic in evaluating themselves will help them have a healthy self-concept. Inaccurate perceptions of self can take root and become reality to kids. For example, a child who does very well in school but struggles with math may say, "I can't do math. I'm a bad student." Not only is this a false generalization, it's also a belief that will set the child up for failure. Encourage kids to see a situation in its true light. A helpful response might be: "You are a good student. You do great in school. Math is just a subject that you need to spend more time on. We'll work on it together."
Be spontaneous and affectionate. Your love will go a long way to boost your child's self-esteem. Give hugs and tell kids you're proud of them. Pop a note in your child's lunchbox that reads, "I think you're terrific!" Give praise frequently and honestly, without overdoing it. Kids can tell whether something comes from the heart.
Give positive, accurate feedback. Comments like "You always work yourself up into such a frenzy!" will make kids feel like they have no control over their outbursts. A better statement is, "You were really mad at your brother. But I appreciate that you didn't yell at him or hit him." This acknowledges a child's feelings, rewards the choice made, and encourages the child to make the right choice again next time.
Create a safe, nurturing home environment. Kids who don't feel safe or are abused at home will suffer immensely from low self-esteem. A child who is exposed to parents who fight and argue repeatedly may become depressed and withdrawn. Also watch for signs of abuse by others, problems in school, trouble with peers, and other factors that may affect kids' self-esteem. Deal with these issues sensitively but swiftly. And always remember to respect your kids.
Help kids become involved in constructive experiences. Activities that encourage cooperation rather than competition are especially helpful in fostering self-esteem. For example, mentoring programs in which an older child helps a younger one learn to read can do wonders for both kids.
Finding Professional Help

If you suspect your child has low self-esteem, consider professional help. Family and child counselors can work to uncover underlying issues that prevent a child from feeling good about himself or herself.

Therapy can hep kids learn to view themselves and the world positively. When kids see themselves in a more realistic light, they can accept who they truly are.

With a little help, every child can develop healthy self-esteem for a happier, more fulfilling life.

Motivation

.

Ask any person who is successful in whatever he or she is doing what motivates him/her, and very likely the answer will be "goals". Goal Setting is extremely important to motivation and success. So what motivates you? Why are you in college? If you are in college because that's what your parents want, you may find it difficult to motivate yourself. Sure, it's possible to succeed with someone else providing the motivation for you. ("If you graduate from college, I'll give you a car!" or worse "If you don't graduate from college, you won't get a car.") But motivation that comes from within really makes the difference.

Certainly, you need some intelligence, knowledge base, study skills, and time management skills, but if you don't have motivation, you won't get far. Think about this analogy. You have a car with a full tank of gas, a well-tuned engine, good set of tires, quadraphonic CD system, and a sleek, polished exterior. There it sits. This car has incredible potential. (Have you heard that before?) However, until a driver sits behind the wheel, puts the key in the ignition, and cranks it up, the car doesn't function. You guessed it; the KEY is MOTIVATION.

Interest is an important motivator for a student. So is a desire to learn. When you link these two things together, you create success. Often success in an endeavor leads to more interest and a greater desire to learn, creating an upward spiral of motivation toward a goal you have established.

So be honest with yourself. Are you genuinely interested in being in college? Have you set realistic goals for yourself? How can you develop the internal motivation that really counts? When it comes to motivation, KNOWING is not as important as DOING.

Circus-style performers at a Panic at the Disco concert.

Panic at the Disco performed in Times Square during the New Year's Eve events in December 2006/January 2007 with Carson Daly. They performed two songs, "Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" (Last performance in 2006) and "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" (First performance in 2007). Although both songs contain profanity, Panic at the Disco sang censored versions of the songs.

They have also performed live cover versions of Third Eye Blind's "Slow Motion", Radiohead's "Karma Police", The Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight, Tonight", two versions of Counting Crows' "Round Here", K-Ci and Jojo's "All My Life", Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time", Nelly Furtado's "Maneater", Queen's "Killer Queen", The Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby", Blink-182's "What's My Age Again?", and The Band's "The Weight".

Style

While Panic has been called an emo band, they themselves consider their music to be "not emo" as stated in an interview with NME: "Emo is bullshit. We want to be the new Radiohead."

Their debut album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, was a medley of old fashioned vaudeville and electronic rock beats, paired with Ryan Ross's often angsty and emotional lyrics inspired by things that he experienced.

However, Panic has gone on record many times saying that their second album would be completely different from A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, as Rolling Stone wrote in an article: "The group cemented its current direction with their first single, called "Nine in the Afternoon". "It’s influenced by the music our parents listened to: the Beach Boys, the Kinks, the Beatles", says Ross. "Our new songs are more like classic rock than modern rock. We got older and started listening to different music – and this seems like the natural thing to do right now." The Vanderbilt University online student community, insidevandy.com, reported on the album style in a blog. "Band members have referenced more mature influences and have expressed a desire for a less hurried, digitized sound than on their previous effort...The first single from the album, 'Nine In The Afternoon,'...displays what Panic has described as the album's classic rock tone. The song's bouncy sound and classic pop structure and instrumentation allude to mature influences...Another new song, 'When the Day Met the Night,' reflects a similar style, featuring poppy, tinkling piano melodies and sunshine-y guitar riffs."

Concerning their new style of music, Ryan Ross has said, "I try to think of the person who's worked an eight-hour day, the person who gets in the car and puts on their radio. I'd like them to hear a song that makes them feel happy for three minutes rather than something that makes them more depressed than they already are. We're not afraid to write about love or being happy. We have an entire culture that is either provocative or negative. It's so geared toward being shocking that it no longer manages to shock. They've pushed it as far as they can go both sexually and in terms of anger. Which is why we're here, to provide something different." The album is described as "Alice in Wonderland-like whimsy; it's as if they dropped the entire Beatles catalog into a blender, added some modern alternative ice and the horn section from Sonia Dada, then churned out a new-millennium Liverpool smoothie. And the band knows it, singing, "I can't prove this makes any sense, but I sure hope that it does."

The soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet was composed of two separate soundtrack album releases: the first containing popular music from the film and the second containing the actual score to the film composed by Nellee Hooper, Craig Armstrong, and Marius De Vries.

Music from the Motion Picture

William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet: Music from the Motion Picture was the first soundtrack album to accompany the film. Released on the Capitol Records label, the soundtrack features songs by a number of artists including Garbage, Butthole Surfers and Radiohead (their song "Exit Music (For a Film)", which appears over the end credits, was not included on the soundtrack however, but appeared a year later on Radiohead's album OK Computer).

The soundtrack was a popular and solid seller, and was especially successful in Australia, where it was the 2nd highest selling album in 1997, going five times Platinum in sales.[1] A number of hit singles also resulted from the soundtrack, including "Lovefool" by The Cardigans, the love theme "Kissing You" by Des'ree, and a cover of "Young Hearts Run Free" by Kym Mazelle. Quindon Tarver's choral rendition of Rozalla's "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)" was later used in Luhrmann's "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" single.

Track List

1. #1 Crush - Garbage
2. Local God - Alexakis, Art
3. Angel - Friday, Gavin
4. Pretty Piece of Flesh - Hooper, Nellee

Panic! At The Disco have changed their name to Panic At The Disco. They have dropped their exclamation mark.

The logo at both their official website and MySpace sites is without the trademark exclamation mark that graced their name on the debut album.

The original idea for the exclamation mark was inspired by The Smiths hit 'Panic!'.

Guitarist Ryan Ross told MTV News that the ! got a bit annoying and that they were forever being asked questions in interviews about the !.

The band is readying the release of its second album that has been christened 'Pretty.Odd.'

'Pretty.Odd.' will be released on March 25th.

Panic At The Disco will headline the Honda Civic Tour starting April 10 in San Francisco.

Panic! At The Disco Split Gets Nasty: Band Alleges Wilson Did Not Play On LP Former bassist wonders if he was booted over money.

By James Montgomery

The split between Panic! at the Disco and former bassist Brent Wilson just got a whole lot nastier, with both sides hurling unpleasant accusations at each other.

On Monday (June 12), MTV News spoke to Wilson at his home in Las Vegas, and it quickly became clear that he was in no mood to make nice with his former bandmates.

"I was kicked out of the band," he said. ""It was 100 percent a surprise to me. We were about to leave for a show in California, and they called me the night before and told me I was out of the band. The only reason they gave was that it was for 'musical purposes.' Everything was good and fine, we had just gotten back from a tour in Europe, and there had been no previous conversations about anyone leaving the band. I don't know why they chose me."

Of course, that story is in stark contrast to the one Panic told MTV News last month, when guitarist Ryan Ross said the split was "a decision we all came to as a band" (see "Panic! At The Disco Claim Split With Bassist Was Amicable, Mutual Decision").

"The [story] they told you made me really angry, because they said the matter was discussed as a band, and it wasn't discussed at all," Wilson said. "It was done as a phone call and the only person who spoke was [drummer] Spencer [Smith]. Apparently [frontman] Brendon [Urie] and Ryan were on the speakerphone too, but they didn't say a word. They never even said they were sorry."

And it's a pretty safe bet to say that Wilson won't be getting that apology anytime soon, because when MTV News reached out to Panic for comment on the matter, the bandmembers didn't pull any punches.

"We made the decision based on Brent's lack of responsibility and the fact that he wasn't progressing musically with the band," Smith said in a lengthy e-mail message. "Brent did not write any of his bass parts on the record. Brent did not record one note of bass on the record. Brendon and Ryan wrote all of the bass parts and Brendon recorded all of the bass parts. We had to simplify some of the bass parts that were recorded because Brent could not play them live.

"Our record would've sounded absolutely the same even if Brent wasn't in the band during the writing or recording process," he continued. "These are all things that only a few people know, and we were fine with that. Stating these things would only make Brent look bad and we had no intention of doing that."

Wilson also claimed that his departure means he'll miss out on the hefty financial windfall Panic was set to receive as part of their headlining tour, which kicked off last Tuesday (see "Panic! At The Disco Announce First Headlining North American Tour"). He says he can't help but think that the two factors were related.

"We were about to start a tour where the band would've been bringing home around $300,000, or something like $50,000 apiece, and basically they kicked me out, so the question about money goes through my head a lot," he said. "And I believe it. Brendan and Ryan can both play multiple instruments and Spencer handles a lot of the business, so that sort of leaves me as the odd person out."

Panic contend that this statement just isn't true, and that most of the money the band is set to make on the tour is being spent before it even materializes, on expensive stage props and guest performers (Los Angeles-based Vaudeville troupe Lucent Dossier was recently added to the bill for all shows).

"Anyone who goes to a show on this tour will see that we have a lot of production on the road with us," Smith wrote. "We are basically breaking even with the amount of money it is costing us to put on the show that we want to put on. So any statements from Brent about the amount of money that we are bringing in on this tour are uninformed. Brent showed no interest in the business side of the band, therefore he really doesn't have any idea what is going on money-wise with the band. ... We have never and will never make any decisions with this band based on money."

Wilson declined to comment on whether he plans to pursue legal action against his former band, but claimed that he's not looking for a big payday. He just wants the band's fans to know what happened.

"Panic was my life. I'm 18 and I thought I had things figured out: I gave up baseball in high school because of this band, and I could've gotten a college scholarship," he said. "Now I'm taking some classes and my dad owns his own business, so I'm helping him out. But I'm not going to lie: The whole thing is really difficult. I never thought my best friends would do this to me."

As for Panic, Smith said they'd like to put the whole thing behind them.

"With all of this being said, we hope we can move past this and continue to grow as a band," Smith wrote. "We would like to thank every single person who has supported us for the past few weeks and look forward to seeing you all in the near future."

2007-2008: Pretty. Odd

.

In early 2007, Panic at the Disco began writing their follow up album but decided to rewrite the entire album from scratch in July 2007. While speaking to MTV, Ryan Ross explained that the album lacked a band set up and that it "sounded like a film score." He also explained that the new songs have "a more positive outlook to them." The band also began performing new songs during various festivals and gigs. Two of these songs are "Nine in the Afternoon" and "When the Day Met the Night".
Rob Mathes, who produced the record, described the album as “the most significant music project I have done in a while in that it is young and intense, adventurous and endlessly creative. Working with these young kids has made me look at music the way I did when I discovered early records by The Who and Brian Eno-period David Bowie when I was 16. For this project I am also filled with “gratitude”.The band previously planned to have Danny Elfman, who worked on the original Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack, produce the album.

On November 19 on the NBC drama Heroes a recorded portion of Panic's song "Nine in the Afternoon" was played during a scene where Claire Bennet is practicing for a pep rally.

On December 11, it was announced on Billboard.com that Panic's second album was set to be released on March 25, 2008. Later that day, a series of puzzles began to appear on the Panic at the Disco website. The first puzzle led to the answer of "You Don't Have to Worry" - Drummer Spencer Smith explained that it was a lyric from a song named "We're So Starving".

The video for "Nine in the Afternoon" was shot on the December 21 and 22, ahead of the release as a single in January 2008.

A second puzzle revealed samples from a song on the upcoming album with the third piece of the puzzle leading to a blog entry on MySpace which updated the progress of the album while releasing a rough version of the song "We're So Starving". The band also announced that they would be recording the strings and mixing the album at Abbey Road Studios.

On January 9, the exclamation point in the band's name was dropped, and a day later the band's homepage was changed to the logo for the Honda Civic Tour, which the band is headlining this year. They confirmed that the second album was titled Pretty. Odd. with a release date of March 25, 2008. They defended the decision to drop the exclamation point during an interview with MTV : "It was never part of the name to us. (...) When we started doing new promo stuff for this album, we just told everyone not to use it anymore."

A fresh puzzle appeared on the band's website on the January 16, various parts of the puzzle were released on to different websites. A week later, the completed puzzle appeared on the website revealing the album cover of Pretty. Odd.

On January 26, a new puzzle was added to the site, this led to the back cover of the album being revealed.

The single for "Nine in the Afternoon" was added to Amazon.com's digital music catalogue. Although the song will only be available for purchase on January 29, a 30 second preview of the final version was uploaded and later removed.

On January 28, "Nine in the Afternoon" was made available (in full) on the band's official MySpace page. iTunes made the Deluxe Edition and Standard Edition of the album available for pre-order on January 29, 2008.

The day after the video for the first single "Nine in the Afternoon" aired, the band shot a whole new video for the next single, entitled "That Green Gentlemen (Things Have Changed)".

On February 23, Panic at the Disco hosted a private event with fan club members at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza in New York City. The band held a Q&A session with the fans and those in attendance got to hear for the first time three new songs. The setlist included: "We're So Starving," "Nine in the Afternoon", "But It's Better If You Do", "She's a Handsome Woman", "That Green Gentlemen (Things Have Changed)", "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and "Mad as Rabbits".

A poster for the event featured a Wal-Mart Soundcheck logo, which leads some people to believe the band will soon have a performance up on their website and possibly have Pretty. Odd. released in a Walmart packaging that comes with an exclusive DVD.

During their recent 2008 European Tour, Panic at the Disco performed songs from their new album, Pretty. Odd., including: "That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)", "Nine in the Afternoon", "She's a Handsome Woman", "Mad as Rabbits", and "We're So Starving".

On March 30, the album hit #2 in the UK Albums Chart. The album also debuted at #2 in the U.S., selling 139,000 copies in its first week.On April 8, the album debuted at #1 in Australia.

For the week of April 7 to April 12, 2008, Panic was the MTV Artist of the Week. They began the Honda Civic Tour April 10th of the same week at The Warfield in San Francisco, California.

In August, Panic at the Disco will embark on a world tour, with dates in Asia, Australia and New Zealand already announced. These will be the band's biggest shows overseas to date.

2006: A Fever You Can't Sweat Out

.

Panic at the Disco released their debut album A Fever You Can't Sweat Out on September 27, 2005, making a fan base through PureVolume and MySpace, though achieving little commercial recognition. After a consistent presence in PureVolume's top 10 signed artists, and reaching number one in MySpace's indie charts, Panic at the Disco were featured on MTV's Total Request Live on January 17, 2006, where they premiered their music video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." Featuring Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque and a circus wedding theme, the video débuted at #10 on the TRL countdown, later winning the Video of the Year award at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards. The single itself, released April 27, 2006 got to #7 in the US charts.

The band was originally third-billed for the Truckstops & Statelines Winter Tour in early 2006, which was headlined by The Academy Is... and included Acceptance as direct support and Hellogoodbye on the line-up. Due to their increase in popularity before and during the tour, the band ended up getting pushed above Acceptance to second-billed every night playing right before the headliner and "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" outsold The Academy Is...'s debut album, "Almost Here" during the tour.

Their second single, "But It's Better If You Do", was released in the UK on May 1st, 2006 where it debuted, and peaked, at #23. The accompanying music video, released the previous month, portrays the band playing in a speakeasy in 1930's America, which, according to Urie, shows "the dark and secluded style of Panic."

The band officially announced the departure of their bassist, Brent Wilson, with a message on the band's website on May 17, 2006. Wilson has since claimed that the decision to leave was not his, and that he was fired without warning for monetary reasons, though the rest of the band deny this. Wilson is now demanding a cut in royalties, and has threatened he will take his former band to court if need be.

Just days after Wilson's departure, the band embarked on their first headlining tour through Europe, with long-time friend, Jon Walker, filling in for the summer tour as a temporary bassist while a permanent replacement was sought. All of the dates were sold out, with some, notably Manchester, selling out in a matter of hours. Upon their return, the band embarked on a two-month North American headlining tour with supporting acts The Hush Sound, OK Go, The Dresden Dolls, and Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque, still retaining Walker as a temporary bassist. On July 3 of that year, the band's MySpace profile was edited to list Walker as bassist/vocals, and he became a permanent member of Panic at the Disco.

The success of their first two singles helped catapult their debut album to the top of the Billboard Independent chart and to #13 on the Billboard 200 in July 2006. The video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" has been streamed from YouTube almost 9 million times.

Towards the end of July 2006 Panic at the Disco released their third music video, "Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off." The video features people with fish tank helmets walking the streets of what appears to be a studio back lot. The video only shows the band in one shot, reportedly because they felt that their looks were distracting from their music.

In early August 2006, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out went Platinum, having sold over one million albums.

During Panic's opening song on August 25, 2006 at the Carling Weekend: Reading Festival, an unknown audience member threw a bottle at the stage, which struck and temporarily knocked out Brendon Urie, forcing the band to stop playing. After some minutes, he got back up and shouted to the crowd, "You can't take me out! Let's see how well you guys do with my left side", and continued with the same song. In a phone interview Ryan Ross stated that "We [Panic!] were kinda expecting that [The bottling] going into the Reading, because we heard that that's kinda a tradition they have over there" and then continued by saying that "We walked on and we were kinda expecting that to keep our heads up the whole time, and unfortunately Brendon, he was catching bottles coming towards me and Jon and then he was dodging them himself, and kinda just didn't see one coming that I saw and it got him pretty good, and I dunno that's the only time anything like that's ever happened so hopefully we won't have to worry about anything like that too much."

The band embarked on a world tour in the later part of 2006. It included dates in Australia, New Zealand, and continental Europe. On November 7, 2006, they kicked off their first-ever arena tour with Bloc Party (who shortly dropped out because of drummer Matt Tong suffering a collapsed lung) and Jack's Mannequin. The Plain White T's were added to the next few weeks of The Nothing Rhymes With Circus Tour. They opened up the shows beginning in New York through November 26 in Iowa. After that, Cobra Starship were on the tour through December 9 in San Diego. The band appeared along with Fall Out Boy, Marilyn Manson, and other bands on the special edition soundtrack of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas covering "This Is Halloween", which was re-released in 3D on October 20.

Their final single from A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, "Build God, Then We'll Talk", was released on March 5, 2007. The accompanying music video portrays the fallacy of relationships.

In May 2007 it was announced that a Smashing Pumpkins Tribute LP would be released, compiled by MySpace and Spin. The LP features Panic's cover of "Tonight, Tonight" and was included free in the June 26, 2007 issue of Spin.

2004: Origins and signing

.

The band was formed in the suburban area of Summerlin, Las Vegas, by two childhood friends—Ryan Ross on the guitar and Spencer Smith on the drums. Since the age of thirteen, the two played Blink-182 covers in bands of different formations, according to an interview with Walker and Ross. Ross and Smith then created a band under the name of "Summer League" with childhood friends Brent Wilson, and Trevor who would later leave the band.

It was at Palo Verde High School where Wilson met Brendon Urie. Wilson had asked Urie to try out as guitarist for the fledgling band, as they were looking for a replacement guitarist at the time. Originally, Urie was not the band's lead singer or their guitarist. Rather, the position belonged to current guitarist and lyricist Ross. However, when they heard him sing backup vocals during a rehearsal, they were impressed with his backup vocal abilities and unanimously decided to make him the singer. The band then settled on the name 'Panic! at the Disco.' They lifted the name from the lyrics of a song called "Panic," by Name Taken: Panic at the disco / Sat back and took it so slow / Are you nervous? Are you shaking? / Save compliments to praise compilation / We don't have to feel we fit in / We can move back / We can leave them. Although the band often says that the name comes from the song Panic by The Smiths, it was revealed by them that the Name Taken song did also lend inspiration to the band, but that the song by The Smiths is sometimes easier to explain to the ones who are unaware of Name Taken.

In order to promote music, the band contacted Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz through LiveJournal, and sent him an internet link to their PureVolume site. Wentz took a trip to Las Vegas to meet the band. After seeing them practice, he asked if they would sign with his Fueled by Ramen imprint label Decaydance.

Parsley Petroselinum crispum--Natural Unborn baby Killer

.

Parsley is a wonderful herb for bringing on a late period. It is one of my personal favorites. The fresh herb is easily obtained at any grocery store in the produce section or is easily grown. I discovered Parsley's value as an emmenagogue while traveling in Mexico. I had missed two periods, during this time I was on the pill, so I didn't think I was pregnant but I was aware that the pill is not 100% effective. I was concerned and knew abortion was safest done during the first trimester, which was rapidly drawing to a close. I searched my herb books for an herb I could make a tea with while traveling in a foreign country. The problem being that I did not have access to any of the common menstrual stimulating herbs I was familiar with. Finally I came across a vague mention of parsley. I scoured the kitchen cabinet and found some of the dried herb. I drank several cups through out the day. The next day much to my relief I began to bleed.

Parsley is a mild emmenagogue (an herb which stimulates menstruation), it works like a charm for starting menstruation when pregnancy is not the cause for delay. I have used parsley on several occasions to successfully start menstruation when not pregnant. I prepared and drank a strong tea made from the fresh plant, bleeding would start in as little as a few of hours or once took three days to get started, usually after drinking the parsley tea my period would start by the next day.

For additional information on starting a late period that is not late due to pregnancy please see Delayed Menstruation.
For terminating pregnancy, I think of parsley as a helper herb. when used by itself it, its my opinion will not cause abortion, for a woman with a healthy pregnancy. There is a couple ways that Parsley can be used, either as a tea (or infusion) or as a pessary (an object or substance placed inside the vagina ).

As a tea, it has a mild flavor, I think of it as "green" with a spicy flavor. The tea can be made either from the dried herb (1 tsp per cup of water) or a tea can be made from the fresh herb. I prefer to work with organic parsley (especially if i plan on using it as a pessary). When using the fresh herb, 1 tablespoon of chopped herb per cup of water, its ok to make it stronger if you want.

When working with the fresh herb, i usually brew up a few cups at once, i'm not to exact on the amounts, usually, i fill a small to medium size pot with water, bring the water to a boil. While i'm waiting for the water to boil, I chop up a bunch of parsley leaves put that in a canning jar, then pour the boiled water over the herb, put the cap on and let it steep for about 20 minutes. The resulting tea, is green in color, and doesn't taste bad, you can sweeten it if you like or add milk if you like.

I drink a cup while the tea is still warm (i strain the herb out first), then drink some later on, taking 2 to 4 cups in a day.

Parsley combines well with vitamin c (ascorbic acid).

A parsley pessary (vaginal insert) can aide in softening the cervix, helping it to open, to prepare for release. Fresh parsley comes in a bunch, many sprigs tied together, you can remove the larger part of the stem just below the first leaf joint, this will make it more comfortable. Don't pick the leaves off the main stem, it just makes it that much smaller and harder to remove. Just leave the leaf as it is, and take off the bigger part of the stem.

When I made my pessaries, I used 3 or 4 sprigs of the fresh herb, I've read that you can wrap it in cheese cloth, or tie a string to the stems to help you get them out, but i didn't find that necessary. I just pushed the parsley leaves in as far as i could, right next to my cervix, (which feels rounded and kind of hard, the consistency is kind of like the end of your nose. (just a little cervix info)

It felt bulky at first, but the leaves will soften from your body heat. You may notice a parsley smell, or taste in your mouth after a while. I changed it every 12 hours, twice a day, especially leaving it in over night.

When it came time to remove it, i just reached in with two fingers and scooped it out, checking it for any blood, then discarding. Repeating the process.

Contradictions: should not be used by individuals with inflammatory kidney problems or diseases.

Guest Articles: Good for Some, Bad for Others

. 2008-10-25
0 Comment

A recent debate started me thinking about how some marketing strategies can be right for one Web site, but wrong for another depending on the sites purpose and the underlying reasoning behind the action.

If an action doesnt directly and logically plug into site goals, then there are likely more profitable ways to spend that time and effort.

Publishing third-party articles on a Web site is one of those marketing strategies that can be right for one site, yet wrong for another.

Publishing Guest Articles as a Strategy

Publishing guest articles as one of your Web site marketing strategies can help broaden the amount and quality of content on a site, which in turn can lead to a more solid, stronger reputation. James Edwards of Umbrella-Consultancy, http://www.umbrella-consultancy.co.uk, explains:

\"IMO having quality articles on your site will show that you are...someone who embraces the industry and respects the work of others. Most research scientists post links to other respected scientists work. I think it can only be good to have quality material by other people in your field posted on your site.\"

Helping Web Site Visitors

Another situation where adding others articles to your site can make strategic sense is when a lot of visitors arrive looking for a solution other than the one you provide on your site. Rather than have them wander off, no closer to an answer to their problem, you can build goodwill and credibility by having articles on the Web site that give them more information.

For example, several types of people arrive at my site through the search engines:

- Some are people researching marketing consulting services.

- Some are students looking to write a paper or finish an assigned project for school.

- Some are looking for marketing software.

- Others are looking to buy printed material (e-books, templates, workbooks, etc.) in order to proceed, step-by-step, on their own.

The only ones that are going to be interested in what I have to sell are those in the last group. Instead of letting the majority of visitors go without a fight, I have articles on the site from handpicked individuals or companies.

Those articles are chosen according to how good the quality is, how well the subject matter fits, and whether I think the information will help site visitors.

Information Sites

If a site (or section of a site) is informational in nature, guest articles can be a viable Web site marketing strategy, for several reasons:

- Repeat, purchase-related visits. A good information library can help potential customers through the decision-making process. If they find the information on your site especially helpful, they will be predisposed to coming back later, when they are ready to purchase.

- Increased Web site revenue. Publishing others work can generate more revenue for your own site. For example, when I publish a third-party article, elsewhere on the page I include one or more of the following: AdSense; an advertisement for my own products; a newsletter sign-up box; or a relevant affiliate link. That way, every path off the page satisfies one of my own goals (direct ad revenue, new newsletter subscriber, or product sales lead).

- Increased targeted traffic. Each new page of quality content has the potential to bring in a happy chunk of incremental traffic from the search engines.

- Future collaborations or other projects. An indirect benefit from publishing others articles is contact and future collaboration with authors. For example, after one author received several new sign-ups to her newsletter through an article published on my site, she contacted me about collaborating on an audio product.

Poor Fit With Marketing Strategies

For some business models, including guest articles in a list of Web site marketing strategies does not make sense. For example, it can be counterproductive to include guest articles on Web sites where the primary goal is to sell.

Service Web Sites

If the goal is to generate direct sales and leads for your own services, it doesnt make sense to dilute the message and call to action with diversions. Karon Thackston explains:

\"The purpose of my site is to get those in need of copywriting services and SEO copywriting services to contact me in order to do business. People who come to my Marketing Words site, http://www.marketingwords.com, are looking for information about copywriting. They are also looking to hire a copywriter.\"

Therefore, you will find only material written by Karon on her site.

Product Sales Sites

Some sites have a single goal: to sell product. Every page on the site is devoted to product descriptions or copy designed to move a visitor toward a purchase. In these cases, where the predominant call to action is \"buy the product,\" articles could hurt sales by diverting visitor attention away from the products.

Visit your favorite online retail sites, and you are likely to find product descriptions, reviews, photos and other product-driven content - but little or no guest articles. Their absence on many e-commerce sites is an illustration of the poor fit of such articles as a marketing strategy for those sites.

Understanding how different techniques support, or sabotage, Web site marketing strategies can be critical to a sites success. Align your strategies with overall goals, and your business is more likely to flourish.

Using a Proxy to Access Any WebSite

.

Many school classrooms primarily use computers and the net to gather and save information. More and more colleges are offering entire learning environments via a web-based medium where no physical classroom is even necessary. Employers are also following suite and using the Internet as a mass communication tool for employers to interact electronically with one another with little cost. With this significant increase in the nets usefulness, there has come about stronger laws governing exactly what content is distributed.

One such very popular proxy (proxymy.com) has become notoriously popular for allowing students to access MySpace (a popular social networking website) from their school internet connection. Not only do proxies such as ProxyMy.com allow access to MySpace from school and colleges, but they are also almost necessary to use in the work environment. Employers are able to browse and track every single website their employees visits at work. An anonymous web based proxy can ensure privacy when surfing the web.

Access to otherwise filtered websites, and securing browsing privacy are two great benefits of a CGI based anonymizer proxy. Another great benefit, not to be overlooked, is also the security offered when browsing the net through a proxy. As great of an educational tool the internet has become, it is also a nefarious medium for advertisers to distribute all sorts of unwanted advertisement including: spam, pop ups, viruses, and predominantly spyware.

A CGI proxy allows anyone using it to block cookies that track browsing habits for these ads to ensure your computers safety, privacy, and right to browse the internet as it was meant to be seen: An uncensored medium.

Nowadays, trojan and worm virus is an headache of every computer users that it seems uncontrollable even your anti-virus software is always updated. It seem so helpless specially for ordinary user of computer. The use of USB drives or what they call thumb drive is one of the major spreader of these virus in addition to Internet connection. But are you aware that the spread of this called bugs or virus can be prevented even you anti-virus is not so powerful? Here is how:
First thing first, we need to DISABLE the autorun of any removable device such as USB Drive, Memory Card Reader, CD-Rom etc to our computer, do you know how to do it? If not just go to My Computer, if you see the cd-rom drive there or the USB Drive just right click your mouse, then click Properties, then AutoPlay tab , on the drop down menu click MIXED CONTENT and Click TAKE NO ACTION, then apply.

Start the computer from the CD-ROM drive. It will start Windows Setup screen
When the “Welcome to Setup” prompt appears.Press “R” to start the Recovery Console
If asked “Which Window installation would you like to logon to” select the number. type “1? then Enter, if only one installation of Windows is present
Enter the administrator password, press Enter
It will bring you to command prompt, C:\Windows>
Proceed with the following command:
- Type d: (This is the drive letter of USB. It can be e: or f: defending on how many hard disk or cd drive is installed)
- Type attrib -h -r -s autorun.inf
- Type “edit autorun.inf” it will open DOS Editor and display contents as follows
==========================
[autorun]
open=file.exe
shell\Open\Command=file.exe
shell\open\Default=1
shell\Explore\Command=file.exe
shell\Autoplay\command=file.exe
==========================
Take note on the file that it called to open (in above example it is file.exe)
Exit DOS Editor and return to command prompt, D:\>
Delete the file that was called to open on DOS Editor
- Type del /f /a file.exe

Produced by Miles Film co-operates with Mizan Cinema Productions, “B” Edutainment and Iluni UI.Laskas Pelangi is a story about struggling of teacher and 10 students for education in Belitong. This film production idea begin from how Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza were admiring Andrea Hirata masterpiece which was published on 2004 for the first time.
As Laskar Pelangi producer, Riri Riza said : “Laskar Pelangi has unique story, fully dynamic life with appeareance of 10 strong character students and an ambitius teacher which has big and noble wishes. And Andrea Hirata is very important factor why we would make film based on this book. First time meet with Andrea, there is enthusiasm shown at himself. Meet him like watching bright shining sunny, very inspiring”.

For the author, Andrea Hirata, it’s not easy to permit his first masterpiece to be filmed. Off course Andrea has special reason why he entrust this film making to Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza. “ There are some reasons why I gave Laskar Pelangi story to Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza. First, Mira and Riri are cineasts which have integrity, during their work not just fullfill market pretension. Second, they have rare talent on artworks. They could make box office movie, but still top grade one. After interact with them for long time, I feel more sure if these two cineasts have sixth sense on making some work and have unique perspective,” Andrea said.

While due to Putut Widjanarko explanation, Mizan Publika Operation Vice President, Mizan involving into film production denotes logic consequences from Mizan development strategy into future. “ Mizan was proud by co-operating with Miles Films presenting film which is fully waited by public. Beside Laskar Pelangi book is published by one of Mizan publishing group, Bentang Buana.

After meetings and discussing with the author for a year, Salman Arisanto helped by Riri Riza and Mira Lesmana, begin script writing process. Actually production was prepared since July 2007, by script writing process, location surveying, and actors casting. “Within this production almost 100% shoots taken in Belitong. One thing makes this film special is, 12 actors, 10 member of Laskar Pelangi and 2 additional actors which play as Flo and A Ling, thay are native Belitong people” told Mira enthusiastic.

What Riri and Mira want is performing native Belitong children to build naturally chemistry between story and actors. “From the beginning we did not think about using outside actor for playing as Laskar Pelangi children figure. So, actor hunting and casting process already we did from the beginning of production,” Riri said.” Even these children have no experiences with acting world, but they are very talented childre, have courage, no shy to try, and the most important, they coould presented main figure at this film”, Mira continued.

After hunting and casting process in Belitong, finally 12 Belitong choosen to play as Ikal, Lintang, Mahar, Syahdan, Borek, Kucai, A Kiong, Sahara, Trapani, Harun, Flo and A Ling.

In spite of that, Mira doesn’t forget to perfom professional actor. 12 big name actors presence into this film, such as Cut Mini, Ikranegara, Lukman Sardi, Ario Baru, Tora Sudiro, Slamet Raharjo, Alex Komang, Mathias Muchus, Rieke Diah Pitaloka, Robbie Tumewu, Jajang C. Noer and Teuku Rifnu Wikana.
Rainbow Army...The Book
This film has General Audiences rating, means all ages admitted to watch this film. Planned to be showing in Indonesia on this year Idul Fitri vacation, probably around 29 September 2008. I can’t hardly wait this film ^^

Iron Man is a fictional character that appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in Tales of Suspense #39 (March 1963), and was created by writer-editor Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby.

Born Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark, he suffers a severe heart injury during a kidnapping and is forced to build a destructive weapon. He instead creates a power suit to save his life and help protect the world as the superhero Iron Man. He is a wealthy industrialist and genius inventor who created military weapons and whose metal suit is laden with technological devices that enable him to fight crime. Initially, Iron Man was a vehicle for Stan Lee to explore Cold War themes, particularly the role of American technology and business in the fight against communism. Subsequent re-imaginings of Iron Man have gradually removed the Cold War themes, replacing them with more contemporary concerns such as corporate crime and terrorism.

Throughout most of the comic's history, Iron Man has been a member of the superhero team the Avengers and has been featured in several incarnations of his own various comic book series. The character has been adapted for several animated TV shows, as well as for the 2008 live action film Iron Man where he is played by Robert Downey, Jr.
